SITE SAFETY ASPECT

 Today at Melaka one worker died fallen from 4.5m roof of factory direct to hot oil sewerage treatment plant.The worker is Bangladish has been working there since 2 month ago.The worker fall during installation of Bomba pipe at the roof  area.

What ate the main reason to this accident?Are all the safety requirement enough and followed?

This is considered working at the high area.There are many requirement must follow before any work begin.

• All personnel safety like helmet,boot,google,safety belt must be provided
• Tool box -every morning a short briefing about safety must be carried out
• If working at high place,temporary staging must be installed at the lower level to protect fall
• To install a netting over the staging
• Use a safety belt to tie to any stable structure
• Site safety officer must check and supervise the work
• The existing structure must be checked and confirmed stable
• The worker must be assist or working at group ,one supervise and one install
• Dont played around like using handphone,play with friend and etc
• If only one worker ,give it rest for 2 hour work or work only 4 hours per day

Sometimes 

• The owner want to save cost on site safety precaution
• For the long term when this accident happened all the site work  will stopped for investigation
• If the site safety  not follow rules and guideline they will fined and jailed also
• The owner will loose a hudreds k compare to follow the requirement

The authot had an experienced when working as site engineer to build a factory for the last 20 years.The workers falled from the high staging.The staging are moveable to carried out the ceiling job.Maybe the roller foot hit a small hole and the staging fallen with the wotker.The reason is the moveable staging not tie when move.Lucky the worker wore all the safety personel equipment ang only get minor injuty.The level of dangerous for that area are mild .

That is important before begin any works at dangerous are,the contractor must submit a MOS including site safety control plan to the consultant or owner of the building.The full investigation must be carried out to find the actual reason for this accident.

There are many guideline such as CIDB and OSHA can refer before stating any dangerous project at higher place.
