FLYING OBJECT...

 Yesterday in KL one of the concrete element or block had fallen down and smashed the car passed on the adjacent road near the project.The driver not have a major hurt but his car  in badly condition.The progress of works immediately stop until safety investigation were carry out.

Actually all the work for elevated highway  are in dangerous condition and now the traffics users are expose to accident when passed into this area.The concession company must looked out this matter and dont wait for any accident happen.Pro active plan must be implement as soon as possible to throw out the road users feel unplesant to pass by this area.According to the viral,the completed parapet wall was fallen down.Are this element safe and stable when the highway open to public?.Are the design is enough to sustain hotizontal load and followed the guideline?.Compare to cast in situ parapet are more stable and strong.Overall investigation from design,installation,quality control of material and installation of precast parapet wall must be carried out and any result must be publised to the public.Are the rest of parapet wall safe?.Should the concession company as profesional entity must be responsible and pay for  it with pay all the medical fees and give her one new brand car as a compenstion.

Below are the site safety precaution when working  near or mixed with the public.

  1. The bottom site condition cover or bound by concrete blocks are in good condition to avoid traffic.
  2. The upper  condition no netting to protect any fallen object.The existing netting only protect the workers inside the working area not protect the public interest.
  3. Should be to ptotect the public safety,the temporary structure for barrier must be erected.Not a netting but a temporary metal structure like scafholding with a platform at the top and cover at least 15ft outside from working area.
  4. If  the structure construct over the existing road,the temporary structure must be erected at the bottom as safety structure to protect fallen object .
  5. All the lifting works must be carried out at the night when the traffic become less
  6. Use a swing technology when doing a tranverse beam,the tranverse beam will cast at longitudinal position and when castibg finish,the beam wiil swing to traverse position
  7. Locate safety officer at least 1 km each or at critical area and so far never see a safety officer controlling the safety aspect only depend on the unknowledge Bangladish to control traffic or to supervise the safety  aspect
  8. The safety precaution for all the elevated highway work must be review and upgrade and dont wait for major accident or mishap happen.
  9. Strengten all the existing temporary structure for safety or design a new approach for it.
