COLLAPSED AGAIN?

 Today one more collapsed case happened at construction site for elevated highway.This year only there are 2 or 3 collapsed cases regarding this elevated highway.3 injured at this mishap and one of them in coma condition.Why these accident can happened.No SOP or lack of supervision or try to short cut for save a cost and maximised a profit or something elses.

Today all the traffic users in KL are afraid to use a road which have a construction site at the top or overhead construction site.Actually the main reason are the temporay support are not strong enough or under design to support may be an extra load.There are 3 step to prepare the installation of temporary support .There are 

1.design stage that means at the design stage all the live load or dead load from the material,machinery and vibration are calculated with factor of safety .Then the designer will select the type of support and normally ascwe can see at the site ,the lightweight temporary support are used not a heavy duty such as tabular set with I beam.That why in the guideline for temporary support for overhead construction site ,the minimum safety factory must be 3 and the minimum type of temporary support must be a tabular steel.

2.during installation ,the calculation is ok but when to install may be not followed the construction drawing.All the braces,the footers the main beam,secondary beam,connectors must be checked and verify by the design engineer before approved for construction and one more thing the qualty of netting.As can seen when pass by at the area,the netting are too thin and not cover to the whole area of the construction.Should be the quality of netting can sustain all the materials which fallen the top.

3.safety aspects and when the contruction has been started,the safety officer must always checked the condition of the support ang any defects must be repair as soon as possible and dont wait for the accident happened and also all the movement at the overhead must be well planned to prevent the extra load from the fallen object or the machine will hit something during the working hour.

So we are waiting and waiting for the complete report from the authority and the last two accidents also no report appeared and keep as a secret document until now.Hopely this kind of accident do not happen again and can downgrade our construction industries.
