Today,the government of Penang are proposed to cancel a reclamation sea project at the southern area of the state.2 no of petitions had been submitted by NGO to state government to halt the project.The project once completed will disturb the surrounding marine life.Also when the area are disturbed,all the fisherman cant go out to catch fish because no more marine life to catch including fish.
One of the main reason why this project are planned is to settle a transport problem at the island but lately ,all the development are controlled and monopoly by one party and not given profit to the surrounding community.
So why a sea reclamation project always gave a bad views from community.Actually not only reclamation but other project if did on the natural resources like sea,river,jungle are banned.Reclamation project only can be done on the landfill area .Other than that no for what reason.
Like to settle a transport problem there are many method and of the method is elevated highway,LRT or MRT.The other method is to implement zoning system for vehicle and upgrading a public transport system.Like Kuala Lumpur there are many method implemented already to settle the traffic jems including ring roads and by pass to prevent traffic entered the city area .
Traffics from north and south no need to entered city to go to destination whether south or north.So no need to do a huge project just to settle a simple problem and actually a development for housing must be controlled by government.The house is a basic need for all the people and cannot make it commercialised.The government must make sure all the house price must cheap and anybody willing to buy.Make sure everyone must buy only one house not two or three or more.
If the unit are not sold that mean we open to the foreigner to buy.They have lot of money can anytime buy.So that mean we sold our country to them.Same with shop house,the development must controlled and only if the unit are sold out by different buyers of Malaysian so can planned for another development project.
Why I mentioned this is no more land in the island to do a development so that they have no choice and do it on the reclamation area.The existing law and guideline must be changed to banned any reclamation project at the natural resources.All the new development such as housing are not a landed house and only a high rise house such as condominium and flat are permitted to develop.The shop house are permitted to develop at the lower ground of the condo or at the gazetted area or located at the business area.The new law and guideline for development also banned that no more unit can be sold to the foreigners.
So the developer don t look at the reclamation area to do any housing and dvelopment project and can protect our nature and environment.So 5 June every year are celebrating for environmental day so take care our environment.Thank you
